BR1M

I went to join the crowd of oldies and youngies to collect my BR1M RM500 voucher on 27th February 2012 at our local community Hall at TUTA, Skudai, Johor. It was about 8 minutes drive away from where I was staying. It was noted on the envelope that we had from 10am till 2pm to collect.

I went early, hoping to be able to get a place in the front of the queue and but when I arrived, I found the place packed with people of all sizes, shapes, height and whatnot.

A section of the crowd

We were told to sit and wait for our turn and, once the people sitting in front move forward, we had to do the same. Then I noticed some late comers came from the side and started to squeeze into the standing queue in front. Really no civic mindedness and some were not senior citizens.

Just before my turn came, one official announced that the 2 queues we were on, were only for getting the serial number and confirmation of our identification and the third row to collect the vouchers. What the hell! Why can't they do it in one go to save the people from re-queuing all over in the voucher collection row. How do they expect to clear the crowd this way. To me, this arrangement was bad and the whole process was not properly organised and coordinated. If they can register and issue the voucher in the same row, the hall would not be so crowded.

As the crowd grew and the heat became unbearable due to poor ventilation, even though there are fans on both sides of the hall. An elderly lady almost fainted and was quickly moved to the side entrance for fresh air.

There was one time the crowd was getting restless and some of the recipients started shoving their way to the front of the queues. One official pleaded with the people to queue and be orderly. When his advice was not taken seriously and they continued shoving, the official lose his cool and started shouting at the group. There was an verbal exchange between the official and the group. Anyway, this group of uncivic-minded people should have followed the advice as others had been queuing as directed. It is just a matter of time, they would get their vouchers.

Anyway, that is not the end of the process. They still have to go to the bank to cash the vouchers, another long queue. What a day!

The issuance of the vouchers by the government officials.

Opening 2 or more Facebook Accounts using one Browser

Normally Firefox will not allow you to open 2 Facebook accounts in the same browser. Now you can open 2 Facebook accounts at the same time, with different email addresses.

There are various ways of doing that. You can try to open it in another browser, e.g. Internet Explorer if your current browser is Firefox, use browser that has that features, e.g. Chrome or use Multifox if you are using Firefox. Multifox is a Firefox Extension and can be downloaded and installed easily.

Once installed, you have few options to open a new Firefox window or new profile. The new profile will be numbered accordingly to indicate the number of profiles opened by Firefox. The new windows will be independent from each other.

Now you can open your other Facebook accounts as normal in the new profile window. This is also useful if you have to open several web based emails from the same provider, e,g gmail or hotmail.

Molex Far East South

This 5.45am, I sent my daughter to the bus terminal for her to catch the bus to her work place in Singapore. She and her friend started working there since yesterday. One of the biggest, this US company manufactures electrical and electronic components for worldwide distribution.

The factory is located in Pioneer District in Singapore. It is very near (walking distance) from Joo Koon MRT station with UMW and Union Containers to her left and right respectively.

Her position there is to do quality checks on the various components. According to her, this company employs a lot of senior citizens and her boss is very friendly and mixes a lot with his employees. He even takes lunches together with them.

Hopefully, she will gain a lot of experience there, which will benefit her in the longer term since her interest is in business.

Success

Finally I saw the test post appearing in my Facebook page.... Hope it stays that way....

Testing Testing

Now I am going to test if my blog posting goes to Facebook automatically... here goes nothing....

Linking my Blog to Facebook Pain

I want to link my blog to Facebook so an post that I add to my blog will appear automatically in Facebook. Followed some Facebookers' instructions but does not work. Now trying to link through 'Networked Blogs' to see if it works.... Praying...

Roaming in Singapore

Not the person but calls roaming for my daughter's handphone number. Since she will be working there, I went to DiGi to get the roaming facility activated for her. Since her line is basically new (6 months required) I have to pay a deposit and they will keep a copy of my passport.

Why is that so troublesome to apply of roaming for a new line when my other DiGi line has roaming and my payments are up to date. The sweet lady replied, "It's a new main line. Either wait for 6 months or pay deposit and submit a copy of your passport".

Grrr, haiyah... I went back to bring along my passport to have it done. What a hassle!

What happen to Yahoo Mails?

Sometime in November 2011. When I clicked to download yahoo mails to my desktop client, these 'emails' kept on pouring in, like nobody's business, thousands of them. Just unbelievable. It never ended so I just closed the email client. What gives?

My Daughter - Job in Singapore

My handphone rang and I answered. It was from my Princess. She is in Singapore now and will be heading back to JB soon. She informed me that she will be working, starting from tomorrow. Congratulations Jacinta on the new job.

She is someone who will go far to get what she wants. She has her plans laid out for the next 10 to 15 years. Its good she has heeded my advice to think ahead and plan ahead so she can achieve her dreams.

She wants to be as self supporting as she can and I am really proud of her. I can only wish her all the best in what she plans to do, to chart her paths, to see her dreams fulfilled.

In the pix on the right, she is the one in Blue.

Owwwh!

I need to update my profile. Haizzzzz.

Things have changed since I last visited this blog. Since I can snatch a bit of time here and there, I better do a bit of updating before i go into another period of hibernation. Just joking!

Time waits for no man, including woman.

Chinese New Year

I spent my time in Kuching, Sarawak for my Chinese New Year with my daughter. Yeah, I did get my kind of 'jet lag' on arrival, meaning, I was worn out...

Anyway, I could not really relax as I have to do cleaning up on the house. The house belongs to my MIL. As she was not around, I just did all the clearing up and washing and preparing the rooms we would be staying in.

The days went by without too much excitement, at least until my other siblings and their families arrived. Then its food food food day in and day out. Well, do not blame us as we were away from Kuching for a while and we missed Kuching food.

CNY finally came and gave us rain from midnight till a week or so later. That is the Water Dragon making its grand entrance. Don't play play huh! It was consiered the wettest CNY i knew for a long long time. We did not really go visiting except to a couple of houses. My main intention is to look-see look-see and taste the original Sarawakian food.

CNY came and went and we went our separate ways back to where we came from. We were the last to leave Kuching, that is 31st of January, back to home sweet home in JB.

To sum it all, a boring trip....

2012 - I am Back!

It has been a while since I last posted in this blog of mine. Guess I am pure lazy.

Time has changed and this is 2012 now. Time to buck up and do something to keep our world spinning, spinning with my rantings, my curses, my whatnots...

Comparing to others I considered my life OK, though I would like it to be much better than it is now. Anyway, i must not be too greedy as to ask for too much. I do not want to end up in Tg. Rambutan with the rest of those worry-free residents. Hmm, maybe I should consider that option? Nah! I still need to rant till kingdom come.

Anyway, time to go for now, while i look through what I have to post next. Hmm....
