Safety and Security Concerns in Johor Bahru

Previously there are talks on safety and security concerns in Johor Bahru due to its "high crime rate". If compared to other cities in Malaysia and using the population - crime ratio, there is actually not much difference, just that since JB is more populated, a popular place for visitors, it is more prominent in the news.

When I first "migrated" over in December 2008, yes, there is not much difference in term of the crime rate. Since a year or 2 ago, the authorities have been implementing very effective measures to reduce the crime rate to a manageable level. Police presence are now very visible, street lighting improved and now people are less concerned about security issues. No doubt crimes are still committed but they are quickly dealt with by the authorities.

Johor Bahru now is as safe as most safe cities in Malaysia. The difference is startling and all due to the authorities making that effort to clean up the city. Most visitors will feel safe going about in the city and its outskirt areas.

Now more efforts need to be concentrated on keeping the city and its outskirt clean. People's mindset need to change and each one of us is responsible to keep JB a clean city.

I think it is crap, look at the crime that happened!! It is not safe, look at the snatching cases, wreaking up happy families, people living in fear yet the police cheif still have the cheek to say it is improving and he uses statistical to say it outloud as thou very professional and it is to cover his inability to deter crime! Come on police cheif-continue to eat fat and act inefficiently, people hvae eyes and ears, we believe what we see and hear around us instead of your statistic, wake up! JOHOR BAHRU IS NOT LIVABLE, IT IS A PLACE WHERE ALL THE EVIL INFESTING IN!! those capable of leaving, pls LEAVE, bring your families and migrate, only those who are not capability to leave have no choice to carry on living on this land.
